Welcome to The Ordinary Sacred
God doesn’t only meet us in grand, life-altering moments but in the small, simple ones, too.
Hello friends,
I’ve been thinking about the power of words lately—how they can be like gentle rain on parched soil, how they can light up dark places or hold us when we feel fragile. I’ve often experienced how God speaks in the most unexpected ways, and I believe the sacred can be found even in the ordinary moments we tend to rush past.
That’s why I’m starting this Substack. I see this as more than a writing project; it’s an invitation for us to journey together. Here, I’ll be sharing devotionals, personal reflections, theological insights, and stories from ministry and life. It will be a mix of thoughts drawn from scripture, family experiences, and the lessons God is teaching me in this season. (If you’d like to know more about who I am and the experiences that shape my writing, feel free to read the “About” section).
Some of you already know how much I love exploring the sacred in the ordinary, especially through themes of family life, faith communities, and even the beauty of the prairies. This space will reflect those themes in a way that’s reflective, comforting, and, I hope, inspiring.
Think of this as a place where we can slow down, take a deep breath, and listen. Whether you’re feeling joyful, weary, or somewhere in between, I hope you’ll find encouragement here.
I’ll be writing as a pastor, a father, and a fellow traveler on this journey of faith. And while I don’t have all the answers, I do have a heart that’s eager to explore life’s sacred rhythms with you.
If you feel called to join this journey, you can subscribe to stay connected. You’ll receive updates when new reflections are posted, and perhaps together, we can uncover what God is doing in the spaces where we least expect it.
Thank you for being here. May this be a place of grace, warmth, and discovery for you.
Gratefully,
Daniel Surya
